October PTA Meeting

Octobers PTA meeting had a huge turnout! Thanks to all that came.
There are many opportunities for parents to get involved with the school coming up. Please check the events page to see all of the fun things and also the needful things in the future. A short recap if some of the meetings events:
Popcorn Fridays are back to every week,
PTA membership drive is going on until November 7th $50 gift card to teacher that has most parent participation,
Principal McCartan gave her report and went over Franklin Covey information,
MEAP testing starts October 8th, and goes for 2 weeks, make sure sleep and good nutrition are a priority these weeks.
The teacher lighthouse team will have an environmental clean up and beautification day October 22, 2013 right after school and needs volunteers,
October 25, 2013 will be picture retake day, pictures should be coming home soon,
October 25, 2013 Fall Family Fun night at Hess-Hathaway Park 5:30-7:30pm also the final Fun run of the running club.
Mr. Cole gave a demonstration of 4th grade curriculum including common core practices, using different medias to demonstrate, expanded math form, and how students have to use why and how to explain their answers.
Mrs. Blichock (Music) also came in and explained Nutcracker Knowledge, an educational program that includes an abridged performance of the Nutcracker Ballet. She has secured tickets for all second graders and needed funding for the busses to get them there. The PTA approved her request, and also a send request to purchase recorders for use in her classroom.
Treasurer gave a report and President confirmed that the cookie dough fundraiser earned more than $4,600! Thanks for all the support.
PTA is still researching a new sound system for use at assemblies and if you have any resources to obtain a sound system please contact PTA president.
